TwoHearths records what a child chooses to record. It is not designed to decide which adult is right, which home is better or what caused a child’s feelings.
These Terms and Conditions apply to the TwoHearths app provided by Hearth & Hero Studios. Please read them together with the TwoHearths Privacy Policy and Privacy for Kids page.
1. About TwoHearths
TwoHearths is a family wellbeing app designed to help children record how their days felt, later reflections, transition feelings through Journey with Tim, Worry Stones and Help Requests.
TwoHearths is designed around the child first. It is not a medical, diagnostic, counselling, safeguarding, legal or forensic service and it does not decide why a child felt something, whether an event happened, or whether one parent or home is better than another.
2. Grown up accounts and child profiles
A grown up account holder is responsible for maintaining the security of their account and for using TwoHearths only in relation to children they are authorised to support.
Children use child profiles within a family. A child does not need an independent email address or password to use a child profile.
3. Child privacy and Worry Stones
Worry Stones are private by default. A child may choose to keep a Worry Stone private, share it with one or more selected grown ups, or send a Help Request to a chosen grown up.
A Help Request does not automatically disclose what the child wrote on a private Worry Stone. Sharing with one grown up does not automatically share the same information with every grown up in the family.
You must not attempt to bypass, defeat or misuse privacy controls intended to protect a child.
4. Records and reflections
TwoHearths is designed to preserve what a child chose to record. Original Check Ins remain visible and later reflections are added separately rather than silently replacing the original record.
Grown ups must not use TwoHearths to pressure, coach or direct a child to create records for an adult dispute or argument.
5. Journey with Tim
Journey with Tim records app moments around a transition. It is not GPS tracking and does not prove where a child physically was or the exact time a real world journey occurred.
6. Reports
A grown up may be able to create a Common Wellbeing Report from information recorded in TwoHearths. Private Worry Stones are not included in the normal Common Wellbeing Report, and recipient specific shared information is kept separately.
A report can show what was recorded. It does not independently prove that an event happened, establish why a child felt something, assign cause or blame, diagnose a child, assess quality of care, or rank one Hearth against another.
7. Report integrity and verification
TwoHearths may create a SHA 256 fingerprint from the canonical dataset used for a report and may create an export receipt with a server generated creation time.
The fingerprint is an integrity mechanism, not a statement of factual truth. The public verification page is informational only and is not a public lookup service for child or family data.
8. Appropriate use
You agree not to use TwoHearths to harass, intimidate, impersonate or unlawfully monitor another person; attempt to obtain information you are not authorised to access; interfere with the service or its security controls; or use a child’s records in a deliberately misleading way.
If a feature benefits an adult argument more than it benefits the child, that is contrary to the way TwoHearths is intended to be used.
9. Safety and emergencies
TwoHearths is not an emergency service and is not continuously monitored by Hearth & Hero Studios. A Help Request is an app feature for contacting a chosen grown up and must not be relied upon as a substitute for emergency, medical, safeguarding or professional support.
If someone is in immediate danger, use the appropriate emergency or safeguarding services for your location.
10. Availability
We aim to keep TwoHearths reliable, but we cannot promise that the app, internet connection, notifications, cloud services or every feature will always be available without interruption.
Features may change as the app develops, including where changes are needed for child safety, privacy, security, legal compliance or technical reliability.
11. Notifications
Notifications depend on device settings, operating systems, connectivity and family preferences. They may be delayed or fail to arrive. Do not rely on a notification as the only way to respond to an urgent situation.
12. Accounts and suspension
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect children, other users, the service or its security, or where these Terms are seriously or repeatedly breached.
13. Intellectual property
TwoHearths, Tim the Turtle, the app design, artwork, branding and software are owned by Hearth & Hero Studios or used with permission. These Terms do not transfer ownership of those materials to users.
Your family retains its rights in personal information and content it provides, subject to the permissions necessary for us to operate the service.
14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Children also have privacy rights of their own, which are explained in our Privacy for Kids page.
15. Third party services
TwoHearths relies on technical services such as app stores, operating system features and cloud providers. Those providers may have their own terms and privacy practices.
16. Liability and consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
To the extent permitted by law, Hearth & Hero Studios is not responsible for conclusions, decisions or disputes created by another person from a child’s records where TwoHearths itself did not make those conclusions.
17. Ending use of TwoHearths
You may stop using TwoHearths at any time. Account and personal data deletion is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as TwoHearths develops or where legal, security or service changes make an update necessary. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer law gives you rights under another applicable jurisdiction.
20. Contact
For questions about these Terms, please use the Hearth & Hero Studios Contact page. Please do not include a child’s private Worry Stone or other sensitive wellbeing information unless it is genuinely necessary and we have asked you to provide it.
